Travel tips please...

I have been trying to come up with ideas for entertainment for the plane ride next week, and I would really appreciate some new ideas!!

I think that I have Ashton pretty well covered with the DVD player and her Leapster along with a new movie and possibly a new game! I will also bring some new colors, stickers, paper, make-up, snacks, candy, gum, etc.

The only thing that I can come up with for Reese is some new toys (most toys that would really entertain would be too loud), a new Baby Einstein video and snacks.

Reese is 14 months old now, and she likes to get down and explore. So, keeping her contained for 3 1/2 hours will be a challenge!!

Any other GREAT ideas for Reese??

Something she can chew on for a while and give her stickers, one by one, with a colorful book to put them in....like the Hello Kitty "reusable" sticker book. Mini Play Doh?
Hand sanitizer...because it is inevitable, she is going to touch everything!

Genevieve was 8 months when we took her on her first plane trip. I scheduled each flight to be during her normal nap/sleep time and it worked out great. However...I dont know if you're flying first class or coach, we flew coach and even though I picked our seats in advance they put us at the back of the plane on "both flights"!! I was furious!!! It seemed that if you have children they put you as far away as first class as possible...The loudest most cramped part of the plane...Im just thankful that she slept the whole way. If you say anything to them they'll deny it, but look around you , all of the children are at the back of the plane...I felt like Rosa Parks!! Check that out a head of time if you're in coach especially if you didn't have to buy a ticket for Reese. I dont want to freak you out, I just want to give you a heads up..We flew two different airlines and they treated us both the same :(

I have some friends that swear by trying to get the littler kids to blow up balloons-obvio-need serious supervision. But they say that the activity has lasted a great deal of time, and helps reduce the ear popping.

We brought a ton of snacks on our flight with Jonah when he was 10 months old and that kept him pretty entertained. But like the others suggested, we traveled during his normal nap times so he slept most of the way.

Don't know if you've already headed to Tampa or not, but I just read this entry. We traveled to Florida with Sarah when she was 14 months old (in the car) and here is what worked:
Elmo DVD (she LOVED IT and it was the ONLY DVD that worked - Baby Einsteen did NOT!)
New snacks, but not too many. She loved Apple Jacks and Cheetos!
I made a quick run to the library and got 4-5 "new" books for her to "read."
Other than that, I interacted A LOT with her and she slept a little bit. Oh, and stickers did work, but only for about 10 minutes.

I just discovered the travel doodle pro. You can find them at Target for about $9. It keeps Jonah very entertained. He's fascinated with drawing on it and then erasing it!
